Geographic standards derived from the 2021 ABS Census were implemented in 2023 and backcast to data reported from 2021, impacting variables that use ASGS statistical areas. Socio-Economic Indexes for Areas (SEIFA) and Accessibility/Remoteness Index of Australia (ARIA+) variables utilise the 2021 classification from 2021 onwards, and the 2016 classification in earlier years. This may result in shifts when comparing data.
As of the January to September 2024 publication, occupations are classified using the 2022 release of the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO).
